Claude-Richard Mbowou is currently Assistant Lecturer and PhD Candidate in Political Science at the Panthéon-Sorbonne University and associate research at IMAF (Institut des Mondes Africains). He was previously a visiting scholar at Duke University and worked as a consultant for the World Bank, NUDP and other public and private organizations. His work focuses on apparatus of population control and the process of state construction in war torn context, citizenship and violence in borders areas of Lake Chad basin. He conducted extensive field research in North-East Nigeria, Chad, and Far-North of Cameroon.
